HOW TO MANAGE GOUT?
What happens after a diagnosis of gout is confirmed?
The good news is that the symptoms of gout can be controlled and reduced with medications and change in diet and lifestyle.
A healthy lifestyle is important:

Maintain a
healthy weight
(including weight loss if overweight)

Exercise
regularly
(but rest affected joints during a gout attack)

Maintain a
healthy diet

The following diet can help prevent gout attacks:

Include more of:
Low fat dairy products

Vegetables

Fluids
Drink plenty of fluids (at least 2L a day), unless under fluid restriction

Avoid:

Excessive alcohol
especially beer and spirits

Sugary drinks

Excessive high-purine foods, such as seafood or meat, including organ meats (the body converts purine into uric acid)
Your doctor may add urate-lowering therapy (ULT) medications to a healthy lifestyle
